almost out of gas

Last night was the show at the Blue Agave in Belleville, IL. My buddy Leroy and his lady were in town for the Blues game so they came along. For some reason, my GPS device decided to take us along Martin Luther King Jr Boulavard to get to the show. Kevin, Landon and Brian asked me to emcee, which I was a little hesitant to do; emceeing a club show is one thing, but a one-nighter is a completely different beast. Way harder to gauge and sometimes way less as "rewarding". Anyway, the show actually went really well. At one point I did a joke and some dude in the audience said "I guess you had to be there". So I started talking about my "You had to be there t-shirt" idea, which was completely impromptu, but it got the audience with me and they enjoyed it. I ended up doing about 10 minutes, as did Kevin and Landon. Brian did about 25 to 30 so the show was about an hour long. Afterwards, Leroy, Nicole and I headed home, this time NOT using MLK Blvd to get there.
